Graduation (FC)

We have came to the point where all of us (most of us) are graduating. The 4 years of high school has passed by maraculously. We currently have about less than 2 weeks of school. We are moving on to college and jobs and whatever else people have planned. I'm ready to leave high school and move on.

I realized many of my blog post consist of college or high school post. It's because the realization is setting in. We have to move on from the ridiculous life of high school and mature and learn through college. Congrats class of 2014. We made it.

The Fault in Our Stars (SSR)

The Fault in Our Stars is an insightful, bold love story. Hazel ,who has had a medical miracle that has shrunk her cancer tumor, met Augustus Waters at Cancer Kid Support Group. Not to tell the whole story, but this was a genius love story with tragedy, sadness, and comedy. The title is inspired be a famous line from Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar. 'The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlinings.'
While reading this book I felt happy, anxious and sad. The love story interested me and the characters will live a long time in my heart and mind. This book wasn't a sugar coated love story. The tragedy and weirdness of the characters made it real and enjoyable. It shows that life isn't perfect and some don't get a chance to live long. Enjoy it and get what you can out of it. Be happy.
I really suggest people read this book and go see the movie that is coming out soon June 6 (my birthday).

Making a decision (FC)

Today is the day everybody has to make a decision for college. The May 1st deadline. I have currently not made a decision for college and I am not going to. Believe me when I say that I want to go to college but I don't have the passion nor drive to stress out about this college stuff. I'm non-chalant and come off as not caring but that's me. Everybody keeps asking me what college are you going to. I suggest you dont because I will give a crummy answer; therefore, I have not made a decision now. I am waiting on hearing from my CUNY's because I wish to stay in the city.
My fellow seniors congragulations on your choices and have fun.

James Franco Instagram Stunt (SSR)

While I was on my tumblr I happened to scroll past a conversation between James Franco and a 17 year old girl. Franco apparently started talking to the girl on instagram through direct message and then texts. He asked how old she is and she said she was turning 17 about to be 18 and he was making jokes saying tell me when you turn 18. The girl didn't believe it was Franco so she asked for a picture of his face. He sent her 'selfies' and one including a paper with her name on it. The pictures of the conversation surfaced online and on the news.
Franco admits to flirting with the girl and have apologized for it. The instagram stunt was also a promotion for his film known as "Palo Alto". Seeing the messages online, I viewed them as funny due to knowing the type of person Franco can be. He is a comedian and actor and he is smart enough to not do something like that without jeopardizing his career. People are making a big deal and I see why, but it was just a little stunt and he apologized. They need to move on. To see the article click here.

Sports Management (CRR)

I'm currently in Mr.Torrence's sports management class. In this class we have to make a marketing campaign based on a sport and a client. We are learning about the business field and how sports and entertainment relates to it. My client is Tristan Rosa and his sport is basketball. At the end of the semester we have to create an advertisement and commercial dealing with the sport and how it relates to our client. I took a college class in Business Administration and was one of the TMA basketball managers so I understand the class perfectly even though sports are included with in the class.

Many may hear Torrence name and think the class is hard or we failing because he is viewed as intimidating but it is really the opposite. We are learning in the class passing with a breeze and actually have funny moments with him. This is the sports management class.

Kanye West (PB)

Kanye Omari West is an American hip hop recording artist, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer from Chicago, Illinois. He was born June 8, 1977. His albums include The College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Watch the Throne, and Yeezus.
I'm passionate about Kanye West because of his artist style, truth in his lyrics, and just him as a person. People may see him as an schmuck now based on his behavior and recent album but looking back at the old Kanye who rapped about his life experiences and losing his mother is what matters to me as well as the schmuck side of him now. As a current musician, I love Kanye but wouldn't exactly say I want to be like him. I just enjoy his music art style and have a high passion for him.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. (FC)

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is an organization for young girls. Rhoers compete on a local, regional, and national level. The Rhoers affiliates are working to help other young people while they learn about their heritage and develop leadership skills. Sigma Gamma Rho is dedicated to helping Rhoers to grow to be women of substance dedicated to service.
I am currently a Rhoer. I got inducted with Roshea R. and Georgie E. while in 10th grade. Tamelia and Lamisha are our advisors. We learn leadership skills while doing bonding activities and community service. We did things such as the Breast Cancer Walk, Girls Rock, HIV/AIDS awareness campaign and more. Sadly after we graduate from high school we can no longer participate in the Rhoer Club. During our college years, we can pursue the Theta Gamma Rho Sorority if we really enjoyed the club. I just might. These are my Rhoers sisters.

Teen Fitness and Health (FC)

Teen fitness and health seems to be one thing people are stressing everywhere. They seem to stress this due to the obesity of teens around the world, mental health factors, physical health factors and more. Nutrition and fitness are the two important factors to maintain a healthy lifestyle. when it comes to mainly the female teenagers you often here them dieting. why diet when you can create healthy eating habits? Dieting lasts only for a short period of time, while healthy habits can last a lifetime.
 Fitness and sports are also important. proper exercise is also important in becoming healthy. Teens expect to be healthy and fit automatically. Find a sport or an exercise that you can enjoy and won't give up on so easily. For a few years now, I have part taken in excersing in the comforts of my home to remain active. I have achieved a perfect weight balance, flexibility, and fitness.

Jay- Z Labeled 'Poor Excuse For A Husband' (SSR)

An article I have found a while ago on tumblr had the head line saying Jay-Z was a poor excuse of a husband. A New York Post columnist, Naomi Schaefer Riley, seems to believe that he is. Riley chose to display of her opinion in her latest post following Jay and Beyonce's Grammy Awards performance that she didn't particularly like. The writer labeled Jay as a "poor excuse for a husband" due to displaying their affection and what goes on behind closed doors on tv during their performance and in Beyonce's recent single 'Drunk in Love' video.
This caught my eye being I love the power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce. In my opinion, Jay shouldn't be labeled as a poor husband being it was Beyonce who chose to make the album, the meaning behind the song lyrics, and display their affection in HER videos. I'm not praising them saying things like this is okay but Jay shouldn't be labeled something people don't know about because of music publicity(what they do on stage or in videos). As long as he is treating her right and not beating her, I don't see why he is labeled as a bad husband.

Watership Down (ID)

Currently in my so called government class we are watching a film called Watership Down. To sum it up, the movie is an animation showing the civilization and government structure of rabbits. Even though it is an animation and cartoonish, it is nothing like you would expect and not for children.

We have finished the film and are working on a project based on the film. For the project the class has to answer questions while making a book. The book includes a cover page with a cool illustration, a table of contents, and the rest of the pages are answering the questions. This is what we are cureently learning and doing in Government class.

Heart of Darkness (CRR)

I am writing about my confusing on the Heart of Darkness book we are currently reading in Honors English. The book is centered on two characters named Marlow and Kurtz and is written in Marlow's point of view. Marlow's point of view includes how he views the world, what he thinks of Kurtz, and his journey down a river that he calls the Heart of Darkness.

Confusion comes when I read the book. Especially when reading it alone and not with my fellow classmates. This confusion not only comes from me but my classmates as well. I believe its due to the way the author Joseph Conrad chose to write the book, as in his word choices and how he chooses to describe things within the book. I understand the book at some parts and then the rest of the book is a huge question mark. To get to the point, I disliked this book due to confusion and hope the next book is interesting and understandable.

New Soul New Generation (FC)

Many in TMA may not know this but I love to sing and I'm very passionate about music. Lately I have been going to church. While being there I have vocal lessons, sing, dance, and hang out with the youth. Over the past year I have done about 5-10 shows with them. It all started when I did a show in June called 'Storytellers.' I ended up doing a duet with one of my close friends,Jordan Suarez, and ended up singing back up the whole show. After story tellers I realized this is what I love doing. Starting with vocal lessons I am currently taking, I plan to get better and make my voice stronger. I also plan to continue teaching myself the piano. People loved 'Storytellers' so much we were able to put on continuous shows after this.

In late October we finally had our fist gig in a cafe in Yonkers. Many came to see and support us.  This night we had fun and enjoyed ourselves and decided to make a new group. We are called New Soul New Generation (NSNG). The group consists of Cristian Lopez, Karena DeLeon, Jordan Suarez, Michelle Mateo, Kimiko Bee (myself), Antonio(AJ) Rosa, and Nicholas Mercado. We are going to continue making our own music and hopefully record. This group is my family and I hope to move on with them.

Tumblr Blogging & Art Work (PB)

I'm choosing to write about the social network tumblr and how it has affected my art work. Tumblr is a microblogging platform and social networking website. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short- form blog. Much of the website's features are accessed from the "dashboard" interface, where the option to posts content and posts of followed blogs appear. Besides tumblr my other passion is drawing, which they so happen to be connected.
My tumblr dashboard,what I described in the intro, consists of pictures that relates to movies, celebrities, music, videos, society, and lots of artwork. Most of the art work speaks to me. It relates to me in a way of how I feel or what I like. Due to it relating to me I have inspiration to draw.  I love drawing and can't stop. You can catch me during class doodling in my notebook. I will continue on with this talent in my future. This is why at the same time tumblr and drawing is my passion because they connect. Below is artwork I drew in class.

Shooting and ice skating? (SSR)

This Saturday there was a shooting at Bryant Park. A boy named Cory Dunton,16 years old, has been flagged as the gun man. People were trying to get a few more minutes with a late night skate when shortly before 11 pm Dunton approach Javier Contreras,20 years old, demanding his coat. The coat was believed to be a Marmot Mammoth, which is also known as a Biggie, which is a known object for robberies within the city during the winter. Contreras refused and Dunton walked away. Minutes later Dunton returned with a gun and opened fire on Contreras. Shoots were fired and about 300 scrambled around for cover. Javier Contreras was struck in the abdomen, leg and hands. On Sunday morning the traces of the shooting had been scrubbed away from the ice.
This is disturbing to hear being that friends and I skate at Bryant Park. What if we just so happened to be there that day? Its sad because people came to skate on an innocent Saturday to have fun. And it seems as if people just cant have nice things with out someone trying to rob them for something that they or their parents paid for. It's just appalling.

BMI & MHR in Gym Class (ID)

Currently in gym class we are learning bout Body Mass Index (BMI) and Maximum Heart Rate (MHR). In gym not health. I think we should be running around doing a sport, but no. We are learning how to calculate these things. It seems easy when we are doing this work with a calculator. Apparently we can't even use them. Why have calculator then? Everything we do now a days we use the calculator but for gym we have to do the long division and multiplication on paper. This seemed to be the problem when everyone failed his class. We got to used to using calculators.
Half the stuff we learn in school is not required on the outside in everyday life. When are we gonna find the BMI and MHR without a calculator later on in life? I bet most adults don't even know what that is. I'm done ranting. This is what we are doing in gym class currently. ( Watch my class fail) -_-

Being College Ready (FC)

Currently being a senior, I always hear 'College Ready, College Ready, College Ready'. Being college and career ready basically consists of getting a score of an 80 and above on your math and reading regents. It means having skills and wanting to pursuit a 4 year college. As a senior this term is always coming up constantly. Supposedly I'm currently a college and career ready person.
College is finally hitting me in a way. We are finally seniors. College applications need to be done. College essays need to be done. Recommendations and more. I keep putting them off in a way. When I have conversations with adults and they find out I'm a senior it never fails that I get asked 'What College are you going to?'. We're gonna graduate and might not even see most ever again. We have to go out into the real world. Student loans, getting a job, paying bills.
They say I'm college ready on paper but am I ready mental. Class of 2014 are you ready?

Robert Pattinson Cocaine Bender (SSR)

I read a news article about one of my favorite Twilight actors, Robert Patinson, allegedly caught snorting drugs in LA with Dylan Penn, his supposed to be new girlfriend. According to the article, Pattinson "snorted" the substance several times while attending a Mickey Avalon concert with Penn before leaving to go to the Chateau Marmont hotel. A source revealed that he was scooping the coke out of a baggie with a key and went to the bathroom several times with the bag of cocaine. By the end of the night he was nervous,anxious, and defensive toward the end of the night.

It's upsetting to see this young british star doing drugs considering he is always in the spot light and many may look up to him. Many actors and actresses have died from drugover doses and it would be a shame to have him die off of an over dose and be remebered that way. The fact that he has admitted to doing drugs and continue to do it is even more upsetting. The people looking up to him may think it's okay to go and do drugs and that's what people in the spotlight dont think about. Younger teens or children pay attention to what their favorite idol does and may grow up thinking doing drugs is okay. I am Twilight fan all the way (Team Jacob though) but the way I viewed Robert Pattinson has changed in my eyes.

Research On Music and the Heart (ID)

I'm in Ms. Bartoli's Research Class instead of regular Forensics and I quiet enjoy it. In this course we have to conduct a science experiment independently or with a group. We have to use the scientific method which is a way to ask and answer scientific question by making observations and doing experiments. The steps to the scientific method are:

• Ask a Question
• Do a Background Research
• Construct a Hypothesis
• Do the Experiment
• Analyze your data
• Draw a conclusion

My hypothesis is if you listen to certain types of music then your heart rate will be affected. I plan on proving this by having people listen to different types of songs that i choose and measuring their heart rate at the same time to prove this. So far in the class we are getting research, a material list, and our surveys together. I choose this topic because I love music and depending on how i feel i notice i listen to certain types of music. I expect this to be a fun class with good experience.
